Transitioning out of a Cleanse is just as important as the Cleanse itself, but it requires you to tread carefully to ensure optimal results and a happy gut.
We’ll be completely honest – breaking a juice fast isn’t all rainbows and sunshine and it does come with its own set of challenges. Cleanse Aftercare is key after boosting your antioxidant intake tenfold and giving your digestive system a relaxing vacation, as you’ll need to continue treating your body with TLC. The longer the Cleanse, the more attention should be paid to your transition out of fasting.
Our own team of juice-loving-mouth-havers have been there, done that. Hence, welcome to our Cleanse Aftercare Guide, packed with tips and tricks for your post-Cleanse journey.
FOR YOUR STOMACH
As you ease out of a Cleanse mindset and start to incorporate solid foods, fresh and vibrant meals that follow a balanced diet will be your best friends following your Cleanse. This simple vegetarian and fresh-as-can-be salad known as ‘Texas/Cowboy Caviar’ on Tik Tok is one of our favourite pick me ups.
Ingredients (serves 4 people):
- 3 Roma tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 Capsicum, seeded and diced
- 1/2 medium red onion, finely diced
- 1 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely diced
- 1 large avocado, peeled, pitted and diced
- 1 can of corn, drained (or from 1 cooked cob of corn)
- 1 can of black beans, well rinsed and drained (or make your own)
- 1 can of kidney beans, well rinsed and drained (or make your own)
- 1/2 bunch of coriander, About 1/4 cup chopped
- 2 Tbsp lime juice
- 2 medium garlic cloves, pressed
- 1/2 tsp sea salt or to taste
Serving Options:
- Corn Chips
- Wild or White Rice
- Mixed Leaves/Iceberg Lettuce
- Grab a spoon and scoop; it's amazing even on its own.
Method:
In a large mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, chopped onion and capsicum, seeded and diced jalapeño, sliced avocado, drained corn, rinsed and drained black beans and chopped coriander.
Stir in 3-4 Tbsp of lime juice, 4 pressed garlic cloves and 1 tsp of salt or season to taste. Mix everything together, and voila!

We like to kick back and take it easy following a Cleanse. In doing so, we always need a good chuckle – whether its a side-splitting guffaw or a smirking giggle. To inspire some laughter and make your day feel a little sunshinier, we recommend some screen time of the silver variety. For a good TV binge, try New Girl (Delight’s personal favourite). For an easy classic, go with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (Witty’s comfort movie) or Notting Hills (Love’s go-to on a Sunday night). For a slow but bright burn, Ted Lasso is a household favourite (as well as Cheeky’s).
For something you can hold in your hands and feel in your heart; memoir, Tuesdays with Morrie and Brisbane author Trent Dalton’s, Love Stories are two works of literary genius, guaranteed to leave you better than you were found.
FOR YOUR MIND
During and immediately following a Cleanse, your brain function will be impacted. You may experience fog due to a change in diet, which can later clear entirely for laser focus in the following days. Our favourite way to stretch those mental muscles is puzzles. From crosswords to sudoku to phone apps to good old jigsaws – pick your poison.
FOR YOUR BODY
Regular movement is the way to go post-Cleanse, in whichever form of exercise you so choose. We enjoy casual yoga to stretch our stiff bodies after juicing. A good wander around the neighbourhood, or a stroll down by the beach, might be your favourite way to get moving. Definitely check-in with your body after your Cleanse and move in a way that feels best for you.
